It's about time!

Have you ever had a special skein of yarn that you couldn't bear to knit? I bought this skein of Socks That Rock Lightweight about 2 years ago. It was my first purchase from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. It took me weeks to pick out the colorway that I wanted. I kept coming back to "Hard Rock," with its bright pinks and black. I bought it and stashed it away, waiting for the perfect pattern.

After I finished my DH's I don't know...Charlie? socks, I wanted to do another pair of socks while I wait on the Staked kit that I ordered last week. I bought the pattern for Toxic Socks, but I didn't have a yarn to use for the background color. I pulled out my Hard Rock and decided that it was time.

OMG, it's YARN.....ish!

I got the itch to spin yesterday, so I got my wheel out (still need a name for her....suggestions?) and finished up the rest of the Knit Picks roving. Last night, I plied the two singles together. Since this was my first plying job, I'm preeeeeetty sure that it's an overtwisted, unbalanced mess, but it's MY overtwisted, unbalanced mess! Tonight's plan: get it off of the bobbin and soak the sucker! (and make cupcakes, and do laundry....we'll see if those happen tonight.)

Obsession

I love your warm carresses, the way you make me feel when you enter my body.

Just the thought of your silky embrace makes me moan with anticipation.

Some people don't understand, but they've never felt the tingle and thrill that you bring.

I love spending my mornings with you.

I love you.

(Yep, that's a knit coaster. Even my beverages get knitwear!)

Look Ma!

I've been spinning!

There's my axe! She's an Ashford Traditional. Ain't she purty? I need to name her, I think....

Stay tuned, you might see some PLYING someday! Oooooh...

Blah!

I don't know what's going on with me lately, but I just feel....blah. I think it has a LOT to do with the weather we've been having. It's been raining, cloudy, and generally gross for a few weeks now, and I'M GETTING SICK OF IT. I'm ready for sunshine and picnics! I want to sit on the patio of a restaurant and people watch! *whinewhinewhinefootstompwhine*

Ok, tantrum over.

The blah has been kinda seeping into my knitting, but I don't mind that as much. I've been working on an aran sweater for my hubby. He's been asking for a sweater pretty much since we met, and I figured that it would make a good 1st anniversary present. Thank God our annivesary isn't until October, so I've got time to fit some other projects in there! He first asked for a cashmere sweater. I did some calculating and showed him what the yarn cost would be, and he quickly changed his mind. I'm knitting this out of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes worsted. The colorway is called Thyme. It's a deep green, kind of like a dark olive.

These are the socks-in-progress right now. They are also for hubby, as a "thank you" for taking care of me while I was recovering from getting my wisdom teeth taken out. These are only semi-blah. The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Lightweight in Coppertree. I love this yarn! It's the first time I've used it, but will definitely not be the last. I have a few skeins of this hiding in my stash, and they will be fulfilling their destiny soon.

I'm getting itchy to do something in colorwork, something bright and happy. I was digging through the stash, and I think I came up with some candidates for the next sock project.
From left to right: Knit Picks Stroll Tonal, Araucania Itata Multi, Mystery yarn (hand-dyed by a knit-nighter), Malabrigo Sock

I guess I'll just have to knit myself some happy and wait for the weather to improve. Also cupcakes. Cupcakes make me happy.

Let's play catch up!

Here's what I've neglected to tell you in the last 9 months....

I got married! (Yay!) It was a fun day, but it was raining...and it was an outdoor ceremony!

(Light saber tunnel wasn't planned...that was my father-in-law continuing our prank war!)

There's a new member of our family. This is Mallie (short for Malabrigo...my husband came up with it. I think I'll keep him.) We rescued her from a local shelter.

I am not the sort of person that puts clothes on cats, but I needed to take a picture of the baby hat, and Mallie just so happened to be there. She looks like she wants to scratch out my eyes and poop in my shoes.

There were maaaaaaany FOs. There was a cowl and hat set, a pair of gloves, a few BSJs, and lots and lots of socks. (Click here for pics - http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Knitterley)

I also bought a spinning wheel! A friend sold me her Ashford Traditional, so I've been playing around with it. I haven't actually accomplished yarn yet, but I'm working on it. The poor wheel has been sitting all by itself, patiently waiting for me to pet it (and oil it). I had a heinous cold, then was out after some oral surgery, so I'm finally starting to feel like spinning!

So that's what I've been up to, in a nutshell. I've probably forgotten 20,000 things, but I'll add them when I remember!

I'm still alive!

Hello, my name is Kristin, and I am a baaaaaaaaaaad blogger. It's been 9 MONTHS since my last post (?!). With everything that has been going on, the poor blog fell by the wayside! I would like to thank Glenna at http://crazyknittinglady.wordpress.com/ for leading me back to the blog! I just discovered Knitting to Stay Sane and have been reading archived posts to make the long hours at work go faster.

I promise, I've been knitting while I've been gone. Since last July, I've completed a few shawls, oodles of socks, Blanket of Doom, a knitted thong (more on that later), and a few beer cozies. I will follow up with some picture proof of said knitting, but for now, I'm off to bed. Goodnight, and I wish you all wooly dreams!
